Judy Bowen became vice president for development and executive director of the BCC Foundation as it began its $12 million Campaign 2000 in 1996, but helped reach its goal two years before the anticipated completion date. Under her guidance, the foundation's assets have reached $55 million.
Some of BCC's best and brightest have returned to the college. Dr. Irmgard Bocchino, a Distinguished Alumni Award recipient in 1989, is now the director of the college's acclaimed Honors Institute.
Central Campus Provost Dr. Patricia Caldwell, Trustees Cheryl Krause and Georgette Sosa Douglass, and Dr. Holcombe cut the ribbon opening a 40-year photographic retrospective at Central Campus for the 40th anniversary of the college.
At the conclusion of Campaign 2000, donors were presented with specially created crystal doorknobs because their donations helped open doors to brighter futures for students. The kickoff event for Campaign 2000 was the Rally for BCC at Auto Nation in Coconut Creek. WPLG─TV personality Doug Dunbar (left) and Scott Whiddon (right) greeted and interviewed Judy Bowen and donor Elsie Davie as they arrived for the festivities. The evening's entertainment included races, videos, demonstrations of pit changes, and a pit crew change.
Dignitaries join trustees Paul Anderson and Cheryl Krause, Dr. Holcombe, Central Campus Provost Dr. Patricia Caldwell, and Dean of the Student Affairs Dr. Carol Ross-Black in turning the earth for reconstruction of the Robert E. Ferris Center in 2000.
