The foundation's annual fund-raising activity is a golf classic. The second tournament was held in 1989 at Earl Morrall's Arrowhead Golf Club in Davie. Pictured from left to right are Fred Millsaps, Earl Morrall, Dr. Holcombe, Av-Med's Ludy Price, Broward schools superintendent Sam Morgan, and Dr. Larry McFarlane, who first envisioned the idea of a fund-raising golf tournament for the college. Show moreThe foundation's annual fund-raising activity is a golf classic. The second tournament was held in 1989 at Earl Morrall's Arrowhead Golf Club in Davie. Pictured from left to right are Fred Millsaps, Earl Morrall, Dr. Holcombe, Av-Med's Ludy Price, Broward schools superintendent Sam Morgan, and Dr. Larry McFarlane, who first envisioned the idea of a fund-raising golf tournament for the college. Dr. McFarlane conducted the event for its first few years. The 1989 tournament raised more than $15,000 for scholarships and instructional aids. The tournament has also been held at Crystal Lake Country Club, the historic Fort Lauderdale Country Club, and Lago Mar Country Club.

From left to right they are (front row) journalist Linda Billeter, Urban League administrative assistant Barbara McDuffie-Edwards, music teacher Janice Wilkes, art director Sheila Trank, Broward General Medical Center administrator Wil Trower, Plantation High principal William Milano, and state representative Debby Sanderson; (back row) attorney Stephen McDonald, child-care worker Sheila Jenkins, and Fort Lauderdale Commissioner Jim Naugle. Naugle has since gone on to become the mayor of Fort Lauderdale, Sanderson now serves in the Florida Senate, Milano is principal at Taravella High, and Trower is the CEO of the North Broward Hospital District.
